Efektivitas Model Pembelajaran Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition terhadap Hasil Belajar Bahasa Indonesia Siswa SD

Abstract

Learning at SD Negeri 1 Jukdadak has been dominated by teacher-centered instruction, with students showing limited engagement, low motivation, and difficulty concentrating during Indonesian language lessons; consequently, 85% of the 30 students had not reached the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) of 70. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model in improving students' learning outcomes in Indonesian language instruction and to describe students' perceptions of the model. A mixed-methods design using an embedded experimental model was employed, combining a one-group pretest-posttest experiment with 33 fifth-grade students (total sampling) and semi-structured interviews with six students selected through maximum variation sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using a paired-sample t-test, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed a mean posttest score of 82.17, with a calculated t-value of 4.45 exceeding the table value of 2.05 at the 5% significance level, indicating that the CIRC model significantly improved students' learning outcomes. Interview findings revealed that students perceived CIRC learning as enjoyable and reported an improved understanding of the Indonesian language material. These findings suggest that CIRC can serve as an effective alternative learning model for elementary Indonesian language instruction
